Chelsea Preparing £40M bid for Samuel Eto’o

Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba has expressed an ambition to play for Barcelona next season, mainly due to the prospect of partnering Samuel Eto’o. The deal nearly materialize during Mourinho’s reign but it collapsed as relationship between him and his boss, Abramovich was severely strained and the latter was not supportive of him in the transfer market.

The latest rumor is that Chelsea are willing to spend up to £40 million to lure Eto’o to Stamford Bridge. The Russian has got the urge to play Championship Manager again so fans can salivate at the dream pair of Eto’o with Drogba in attack soon.

However, Barcelona will be reluctant to sell, price is not an issue, they will not be able to cope with their fans’ fury. Eto’o himself enjoys cult status at Nou Camp and unless relationship between Rijkaard and Ronaldinho worsen or he is cast in a secondary role, it will be hard to shake his commitment.

The arrival of Eto’o may also be greeted with unhappiness as Nicolas Anelka is already on board and if he doesn’t get to play, you can expect him to move on again (after declaring Chelsea is his last stop). Le Sulk will not appreciate being a stop-gap measure, so why get him in the first place? And how about Shevchenko, has he lost the favor and patience of the Russian already?

hi everybody i think eto’o will sign for them because i dont think chelsea will sell drogba so eto’o will leave chelsea will be the best team in the world if they have anelka,drogba and eto’o no one will stop them

I’m sure Chelsea have signed Anelka as a stop gap, and Anelka won’t be pleased. Shevchenko has not performed for Chelsea and his value must be decreasing by the day.

The prospect of Drogba and Eto’o together, whether at Barcelona or Chelsea, is enough to send fear and trepidation around all the centre halves in Europe!
